Four of us just returned from a mid week stay at the beautiful La Villa del Valle (B&B) in the Guadalupe Valley. This is the fourth time that we have stayed at La Villa and the first time that we experienced the superb cuisine at the El Corazon de la Tierra restaurant, which is on the premises. In a word, Phil and Eileen Gregory have done it all. They have melded their B&B (La Villa) with their restaurant (El Corazon) and their winery (Vena Cava) to produce a harmonious, restful, and truly unique experience--all in Baja, a mere 60 miles from San Diego.

The service and attention that one receives at the B&B is close to flawless. They see to your every need and they do it with a smile and a very willing attitude. The B&B is beautifully appointed, quiet, and provides a pool and spa and exercise room. Massages are available on request. You are in the country, so if you like to take those long walks or ride your bicycle, you couldn't be in a better location.

El Corazon de la Tierra (their relatively new restaurant) is superb!! You don't expect this type of dining experience in Baja. We had a six (6) course meal consisting of: 1) heirloom sausage tomato, goat cheese cream and arugula; 2) Geo duck clam, Armenian cucumber, and borage; 3) corn dust, partridge chicharron, with carrot leaf sauce, 4) Escolar, lemon albedo, and Swiss chard, 5) duck, black bean pure, and "mother" sauce, and 6) pixtle sauce, aged banana, and goat milk ice cream. It was served and presented with perfection and the food left absolutely nothing to be desired. With two glasses of wine, the cost was $160.00 per couple (including the tip). Additionally, the majority of the ingredients for the meal were grown on the premises at La Villa. This was a meal that will not be soon forgotten and it was worth every penny and a bargain at that!

As you can probably tell, La Villa is a favorite of ours and we will visit it again soon and we look forward to another memorable meal at El Corazon.

Don't miss this B&B and dining experience if you're in the Ensenada area; it is absolutely remarkable.
Room Tip: We always stay in either the Savanna or Camila rooms.
